Build Your Own: Silicon Fuzz Face
Everything you need to build your own true to spec silicon Fuzz Face
In 1965 a two transistor fuzz would revolutionize the sound of the electric guitar and kick off the fuzz phenomenon of the sixties. The germanium Fuzz Face. This circuit was famously used by Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and David Gilmour.
No expense spared in selecting parts for this build. The 50's military style layout and quality components will ensure this circuit will be blowing out your ear drums for years to come! A good amount of time went into drawing up the diagrams and writing step by step instructions with pictures. I have also added supplemental circuit analysis, circuit variations, and popular mods for those who wish to take a deeper dive and explore the inner workings of these classic circuits.
Included in kit:
Instructions to build the Fuzz Face circuit (w/ bias)
Vintage silicon transistors. Sorted for gain / leakage and tuned with an amp to sound true to the original.
Hammered copper enclosure (options available by request)
Metallized polyester film capacitors
High tolerance carbon film resistors
Alpha potentiometers (volume, fuzz, bias)
Vintage style jacks
Eyelet board
Heavy duty foot switch (rated 30,000+ cycles)
LED and bezel
Knobs (silver skirted aluminum)
Standard 9V power jack (standard 2.1mm center negative)
