Build Your Own: 1966 Supa Fuzz / MKII
Everything you need to build a point to point 1969 Supa Fuzz // MKII
In 1967 Marshall began manufacturing the Supa Fuzz - a three transistor design closely related to the Sola Sound Tone Bender MKII and earlier Fuzz Face. The Supa Fuzz retains the clean-up of the "Fuzz Face" but with a higher gain fuzz. This circuit was notably used by Hendrix, Pete Townshend of The Who, and Jeff Beck of the Yardbirds.
No expense spared in selecting parts for this build. The 50's military style eyelet layout and quality components will ensure this circuit will be blowing out your eardrums for years to come! The build document for this kit includes a parts list, detailed layout diagrams, and step by step instructions with pictures. There is also a supplemental overview of popular boutique modifications, vintage variations like the MKII Tone Bender, and circuit analysis for those who wish to take a deeper dive and explore the inner workings of these classic circuits.
Included in kit:
Instructions to build the 1967 Marshall Supa Fuzz circuit-
New old stock germanium transistors. Sorted for gain / leakage and matched with an amp and test rig to sound true to the original.
Pre-drilled enclosure (hammered silver, hammered copper, and gold; enclosure options available)
Polyester film capacitors
High tolerance carbon film resistors
Alpha brand potentiometers (Volume, Filter)
Vintage style jacks
Heavy duty foot switch (rated 30,000+ cycles)
Eyelet board- 9V power jack (standard center negative 2.1mm)
LED and bezel
Knob options (Klon repro knobs, Marshall knobs, Tone Bender MK1 repro chicken heads, silver skirted dumble knobs)
