A recreation to the early 70’s Harmonic Percolator—a two-transistor texture machine with a unique and chaotic sound.
The circuit is true to the original with the addition of a clipping diode switch to select from germanium, silicon, and clipping bypass options. The germanium setting has a softer attack with natural compression and warmth. This setting cleans up nicely and works especially well for edge-of-breakup sounds and lower gain textures. The silicon setting is tighter and more aggressive, with more pronounced upper harmonics and a more immediate attack. With the clipping diodes bypassed the pedal opens up considerably — in this setting the Percolator has considerably more output and the response opens up.
