MKI Tone Bender
A recreation of the 1965 Sola Sound Tone Bender MKI - the first iteration of the Tone Bender family and a refinement of the earlier FZ-1 fuzz circuit. The MKI is known for its pleasantly raw and aggressive voicing that harkens back to early Zeppelin tones. Despite being one of the higher gain fuzzes of the era the MKI retains a distinctly vintage feel.
This version features vintage TRW molded caps, carbon composition resistors, and hand selected Mullard and New Market germanium transistors. The controls are fairly simple with a volume and attack knob that doubles as a bias for the second transistor stage.
