Build Your Own: Dual 1965 Rangemaster Boost / 1966 Germanium Fuzz Face

$159.00

Everything you need to build your own dual 1966 Dallas Arbiter Germanium Fuzz Face / 1965 Dallas Arbiter Treble Booster

Two classic circuits made by Dallas Arbiter in the mid 1960’s in one enclosure.

The Rangemaster circuit provides a colored germanium boost with three shades of treble boost (high, mid, low). The center toggle position engages the stock capacitor value used in the original units. Two additional settings provide an “upper mid” and “mid” boost setting. Use it to drive the front end of your favorite tube amp or stack both sides for a sound that rivals the Tone Bender MKII.

The fuzz side is tuned for clean-up and features a combination of vintage Mullard and New Market germanium transistors. This circuit can provide a wide array of fuzz tones when the guitar volume is used in conjunction with the fuzz and bias knobs. With the bias fully counterclockwise the pedal will provide a trumpet like fuzz with optimal cleanup with the guitar volume rolled back. Turn the bias counterclockwise for gated fuzz tones or set in between for a range of classic Fuzz Face tones.

No expense spared in selecting parts for this build. Each transistor set is tuned with an amp / breadboard to sound true to the original. The 50’s style eyelet board layout and quality components will ensure this circuit will be blowing out your eardrums for years to come! The build document includes a parts list, detailed layout diagrams, and step-by-step instructions with pictures. There is also a supplemental overview of popular boutique modifications, vintage variations of the original, and circuit analysis for those who wish to take a deeper dive and explore the inner workings of these classic circuits.
