Custom MKII Tone Bender / Fuzz Face

$349.00

Dual MKII Tone Bender / Fuzz Face with transistor switch and external bias. This circuit features vintage F-Dyne / El Pac capacitors, carbon composition resistors, and a combination of New Market, Mullard, and Soviet germanium transistors.

The Fuzz Face channel is a recreation of the early two transistor germanium fuzzes made by Dallas Arbiter in the mid 60’s. This model is true to the original with the addition of a transistor switch and external bias control. The bias modifies the character of the fuzz for a range of eccentric and classic fuzz tones. The circuit is sensitive to different pickups and responds to subtle changes in guitar volume.

The MKII setting borrows elements from the three transistor Sola Sound MKII and Supa Fuzz. This channel has a more aggressive tone with more saturation and sustain than the two transistor setting. The MKII exhibits a similarly articulate clean-up when rolling back the guitar volume, but instead of glassy cleans it provides shades of gain.

Both channels share a switchable transistor stage that selects between a high gain Mullard AC128 and medium gain Mullard GET113 transistor. The GET113 provides a warm tone with the the cleanest “clean-up” while the AC128 delivers a brighter tone with a complex bite.
