The Sola Sound MK1.5 is a vast departure from the original MKI featuring a refined two transistor design with less gain and a more refined fuzz tone. Where the MKI is aggressively gated and tuned for maximal gain, the MK1.5 is nuanced and capable of producing a myriad of “clean-up” tones when utilizing the guitar volume in combination with the bias and fuzz controls. The 1966 MKII is the follow up to the MK1.5 featuring a 3-transistor design heavily inspired by the MK1.5, but with some tweaks to the bias and EQ of the circuit, as well as an added gain stage at the input to drive the signal into more aggressive clipping. In practice, the MKII is a heavily modified 3-transistor incarnation of the MK1.5 with more gain and sustain.
